VietTone — Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 31, 2026

In short: VietTone has no accounts, collects no personal information, shows no ads, and contains no tracking. Your child's voice is used only for the moment of scoring a pronunciation and is never stored.

Who we are

VietTone is a free educational app that helps Vietnamese-heritage children practise the six Northern-Vietnamese tones. Contact: viettone.app@yahoo.com.

What we collect

Nothing that identifies you or your child. There is no sign-up, no account, no email, no name sent to us. The name typed at the start of the app is used only for greetings and stays on the device.

Learning progress

Lesson progress, scores, coins and settings are stored only on your device (local app storage). They are never uploaded. Deleting the app deletes them.

Microphone & voice recordings

No third-party AI services

VietTone does not use any third-party AI service. Pronunciation scoring is classic pitch analysis that runs entirely on VietTone's own server. No user data — voice, name, or anything else — is ever sent to a third party.

Text-to-speech

Most word pronunciations are pre-recorded. If a clip is missing, our server (not the app) may request that word's audio from Google's text-to-speech service, sending only the dictionary word's text — never your child's voice, name, or any personal information.

What we don't do

Your choices — revoking consent & deleting data

Children's privacy

VietTone is designed for children. Because we collect no personal information, there is nothing for us to retain or disclose. If you believe personal information has somehow reached us, contact us and we will delete it immediately.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated date above.
